Feel...the power....of RAAWK
So the Official England World Cup anthem by Embrace is a load of old bobbins (surprise, surprise), but it looks like Finland's Eurovision entry is going to be superb (it being a masked, rather theatrical metal band called Lordi), so that's alright then.
This is all irrelevant though. My copy of Guitar Hero turned up yesterday.....and wow. In context....it's probably the last Playstation 2 game I'll buy, because El Pee Eth Pee is loads more convenient. It's the only game I'm admitting to owning that requires it's own special "attachment". It's the only music/rhythm based game I've ever bought. Certainly the only game that comes in a box nearly three feet long. And, oh dearie me, is it fun.
Ok, maybe I'm in a minority target audience of people who actually get RSI from do play guitar and computer games but they've just done it so damned well... I mean, I got it from work last night, plugged in, figured I'd just have a quick go to see what is was like and then just lost two point five hours. It got dark but i hadn't switched the lights on, I'd forgotten to eat and I'd missed two phone calls..... seriously addictive. And the difficulty curve is just perfectly balanced enough to get you hooked and going back for more. The little guitar controller is fab too... hit the whammy bar at the right point to charge up some booster thingy, and when thats done fling the neck of the guitar in the air rawk styley to trigger it.
Hell, even the guy who used to drive the Enterprise liked it...and that's after piloting a starship.
Right, off to find some lunch. Remember it's St. George's Day on Sunday so I expect you all to consume lots and lots of thick, warm, brown British beer. It's your duty to The Queen (happy birthday, Ma'am), England and CAMRA.
